Avonex Side Effects
as reported by "The PDR® Family Guide To Prescription Drugs®"

Avonex or interferon beta 1a is used in the treatment of multiple sclerosis. Avonex is  a beta-interferon, but is chemically different from Betaseron or interferon beta 1b.

Both Avonex and Betaseron reduce the frequency of attacks in people with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis. But so far, only Avonex has been shown to delay the progression of disability.

Avonex is chemically different than Betaseron which may account for its fewer side effects. Avonex is given once a week; Betaseron every other day. Both are injections.
